(N) OffBeat's fourth litter

Noah attended his first show 10th of December. He got praised for his temperament. He is a very gentle and calm boy.

Noah got nominated for the finals (panel), where he got 1 vote, and a truly stunning Seychellois got the other 2 votes. The third competitor got no votes at all – and she is actually a Scandinavian Winner! So no wonder we were proud, Noah's owner and me.

Some people commented that they thought Noah looked a bit like Peter, from SingSang's previous litter. I agree, they do look a bit alike.

(N) OffBeat Sir Lancelot, soon to be 4 months old, behind him is Mikkel.

The fourth (N) OffBeat litter was born 22 April 2006. The parents are Okonor Mackerel, OSH n 23, and Snopus You Sang To Me, OSH, bs 25, or SingSang, as we call her.

Like the previous times, SingSang gave birth easily. By noon she had given birth to two Siamese and two Oriental shorthairs. They weighed 104, 110, 106 and 118 grams at birth.
During their first 24 hours they all gained approximately 15 grams of weight.

Four months old (almost)

Lance is soon leaving us for his new home. We will all miss him, he's a very funny outgoing little boy.

Noah left us to live with his half brother Mogens together with Tordine Thomassen, (N) Felis Elegance, that provides what must be described as a Paradise for Cats? Tordine says Noah is following her like a little puppy, and jumps onto her lap as soon as she sits down. You'll find a link to Tordine's website if you click Links in the menu to the left.
Lance will move to his new home towards the end of this month. Olivia will stay with us.

Noah in his new home for the first time.

Another pic of Noah in his new home, first day.

Lance with Mikkel in the little rocking chair.

Lance again, with his buddy Mikkel as usual.

Fourteen weeks old

Olivia, 14 weeks old. She follows me everywhere.

Lance, or Sir Lancelot as his name is, seems to have taken his bold name very seriously. He is brave, he is polite, he even lets unknown boisterous children carry him around and loved to play with them from the moment they entered our garden.
All of the others showed more intelligence and ran into hiding, watching how it all played out with Lance.
Since Lance wasn't killed, they eventually dared to take a look at these strange creatures that looked like nothing they had seen (or heard!) before.
Olivia seems to know that she is my cat. She trots after me all day like a little dog. Noah is maybe suspecting something, because he has also started following me around. Maybe he has figured out that he is soon to move to his new home?

Noah, 14 weeks old. I think he has become rather handsome.

Olivia doesn't resemble her brothers at all.

A new toy is investigated with the utmost care.

It's impossible to take pics of Lance nowadays.

Olivia again, just because she's my baby . . .

Thirteen weeks old

Both Lance and Noah look rather beautiful compared to poor Olivia.

Lance is the big charmer, Noah is the strong and silent and Olivia continues to be what she has always been – stubborn, headstrong, explorative and cunning. She is still so ugly that one just have to love her.

The boys are sweet, love to be admired and look to Olivia when to learn some new tricks.

Lance has inherited a lot from his father.

Noah resembles his mum's previous litter.

Olivia doesn't resemble anyone else.

To be honest, she looks better in real life.

Noah loves everything in the garden, even dirt.

Lance has found a new cave.

Eleven weeks old – clever and confident

Lance is perhaps the most outreaching of them; he wants to be seen, noticed – but most of all he wants action!

I don't know if it's the name that has influenced him, but Sir Lancelot, aka Lance, is as bold and brave as a knight could ever be. He has always been such a Boy, but as the weeks have gone by, he has become even more a boy-boy than he ever was. Both tough and soft, he plays at the edge, he curls up in your lap; he's a typical boy?
Noah on the other hand, is a strong softie, if that makes any sense. He has a mind of his own, he plays when he wants to and with the toy of his choice. He often prefers his own company, but enjoys to be with the others too. He is curious but reflective; seems to think twice before he takes the big jump.
And Olivia? She's Olivia. I don't think there will ever be born a kitten like her in our house again. She's one of a kind.

Lance and Olivia don't want to be disturbed by a flash light, and don't they show it!

Lance has a face that can express many feelings.

Noah has found a place in the bath tub.

Olivia, a grim girl that has a very strong will.

Noah, 10.5 weeks old, he might get beautiful?

Ten weeks old and so lovely

Mikkel underneath his sister Viktoria, who has an argument with Olivia, and Lance just trying to get some attention.

SingSang's kittens now behave like they own the world and the rest there is. They run through the house and up and down the stairs like a herd of elephants; the sound they make is quite astonishing.
Olivia is still the ugliest kitten I have ever seen, but her brothers look quite nice. On the other hand, Olivia has the guts, the skills, the cleverness and the charms to conquer the world.
Noah is the softest, a sweet boy, very fond of his food. Whenever I call for them and shout "food", Noah is the first to arrive.
Lance is The Boy. Every toy he fancies, is his! He snarls and growls at everyone who tries to come near him and his toy, sounding very dangerous indeed! Swing a feathery toy in front of him, and he can play forever.

Olivia, 10 weeks old, determined to have her will whatever the obstacles!

Lance and Noah resting in our bed.

Lance, 10 weeks old, such a sweet, tough boy.

They are very different from each other, those 3.

Noah, 10.5 weeks old, he has a mind of his own.

Nine weeks old they suddenly seem so big

Olivia somehow looks the best while she's sleeping. Her colours are puzzling me. Is she a smoke, or is she a seal point?

Olivia and her brothers are all over the place, of course; since they are nine weeks old and consider themselves The Masters of the Universe; but they are a bit calmer than SingSang's previous babies have been. They play, they jump, they climb things they ought not climb -- and they run very, very fast -- but I can still walk down the stairs without having a bunch a kittens hanging around every foot. And thus risking my neck and life.
Let's hope they stay that way.

Lance gets some help from the catbed to show how low his ears are sitting. One is always better off with a little help!

Lance in a relaxed moment.

Lance in a less relaxed moment.

Noah has become so much tougher lately!

Noah also got some help with lowering his ears.

Darling Olivia, looking like nobody else.

Is she a smoke, or is she a seal point?

Whatever she is, she's so ugly and charming.

Olivia is a very nosy cat, that's for certain!

Eight weeks old, so very charming

As usual SingSang has brought up her babies to be gentle and kind. Here are Olivia and Lance together with Mikkel from Dixie's litter.

Now it's really getting fun having kittens in the house! They are everywhere, and they are so much fun to look at. The two boys are big softies, while Olivia obviously wants to be looked at like The Boss.

Olivia on top of Lance. He's bigger than her, but she's smarter than him!

Noah at the back, Lance and Olivia in front.

At some pics, Lance looks very much like his mum.

Noah is the sweetest, and the fattest!

My darling Olivia, ugly and irresistible!

Seven weeks old, looking more like cats

(N) OffBeat Sir Lancelot, 7 weeks old; long, tough and loves to be kissed.

SingSang's babies have grown so much in a week, it's almost hard to believe if you don't have one week old pictures to look at. Since a couple of days they have started to look more like cats than kittens. But they still behave like kittens! Very well brought up, though, they use the litter trays as they shall, they eat their food with relatively good table manners - but they are still very much babies.
Noah is the softest of them. He is in fact extremely sweet. And so fond of his food! Whether it's SingSang's milk or any other food. Lance and Olivia are more on the wild side.

Lovely Noah, 7 weeks old and such a charmer.

Lance, tougher than the rest, with an attitude.

Olivia, 7 weeks old she's clever and witty!

Olivia again; one just has to love her.

Six weeks old, soon all over the house

Olivia, Lance and Noah are six weeks old today. Olivia is already safe to let out from the room I'm keeping them in now, since she only uses the littertray. The boys, however, are a bit more sloppy with their toilet-manners...
They didn't spend more than two days in the lounge, because they started to jump over the little "fence" I had put up to keep them in a secluded area. Since then they've been in our guestroom, with the door barred with a higher "fence", but not higher than SingSang easily can jump over it.
Noah is developing into a character of his own. He is much calmer than the other two, and seems to be more independent of them. Lance and Olivia are always together, playing rather roughly. Noah is more interested in getting out of the guestroom. He has obviously decided that there is a lot to discover outside that room! Maybe he'll get his chance tomorrow, or the day after. If he starts using the littertray properly!

Olivia and Lance love to play, and be played with.

Lance has the initiative, and he plans to win.

Lance won, this time. But Olivia can beat him!

Part of the room, that they are soon out of.

Olivia, 6weeks old, our ugly duckling.

No one concentrates on a toy like Lance.

Lance again, 6 weeks old, a tough little boy.

Noah, 6 weeks old, and thinking a lot.

Five weeks old and pretty wild

Today SingSang's kittens are five weeks old. A week ago I made a sort of safe "pen" for them in the lounge, but today they jump the attempt of fencing them in. Have to think about higher than 40-50 cm, but on the other hand, they have already started to use the little littertray.
They still prefer their mother's milk, but Olivia and Noah are sometimes eating some of the dry food. They don't want any kind of wet food, whatever I have tried to serve them.
Lance has grown to be such a cuddly little boy. As soon as he hears us coming, he calls out and wants to be lifted up, patted, kissed and just have all the attention he can grab.
Noah is not as demanding, but he also loves the company of people. He is a skilled climber, but he is not as tough as Lance. I think Noah has something of a poet in him? Like Wordsworth, who also liked to take long walks -- although in the Lake District and not in our sofa . . .
Olivia is becoming more and more Olivia! I have no words to describe her, she is, well; she's Olivia. She is no beauty, and will never become a beauty queen, but she's got brains. And charms that conquer everyone.

Olivia, 5 weeks old, with Lance behind her.

Olivia one day before her 5th weeks birthday.

Noah, 5 weeks old. He is a sweet boy.

Lance, 5 weeks old. Tough little boy.

Four weeks old

SingSang's kittens are now 4 weeks old, and they want bigger space. They wrestle, they stalk, they try to run and they jump in the most peculiar way!
Noah is still the wanderer, curious, investigative and with a very sweet temper. Lance is still the stubborn one, a typical boy who wants to show off his strength and bravery. He is, however, happiest when he is cuddled with. A tough little boy with a very soft heart.
Olivia, oh, Olivia, she is a fat girl with a strong will and by far the smartest of them. She is so charming, there is no way to describe her in words and do her justice! She has completely stolen my heart.

Typical picture of Olivia, who hates the camera.

It's impossible to photograph Olivia.

Olivia doing her thing, and having fun.

Olivia sleeping together with "uncle" Gabriel.

Lance loves to be cuddled and handled.

Lance again, the brave little one.

Noah is a sweet explorer, calm but determined.

Noah loves to experience new things.

Three weeks old

Olivia is still fatter than most and so lovely! She's a girl with integrity, and she knows her way around. Her brother, the black silverticked boy, is probably a Noah. That name feels right for him. He is an explorer, ready to move on. When all three of them are up in the sofa with me, he is the one walking about on his own. Very curious guy, he is.
The chocolate silvermackerel boy is still the headstrong among them. He's also the biggest (longest body on very high legs), although he cannot compete with Olivia's weight. She's still so fat I can almost bury my face in her belly!

Choc-boy and Olivia, with Noah in between.

All three of them, Noah to the left.

The choc boy might be a Sir Lancelot.

Olivia's got a lot on her mind, being an only girl.

Gabriel is checking up everything's okay.

No complaints from Lance, however.

Noah is only concerned about his food.

SingSang's got one more week to relax . . .

Two weeks old

SingSang's kittens are thriving. The girl has already been named. I call her Olivia. Still trying to find names for the boys.
The black boy is so sweet and compliant. He's a real little darling. The choc boy is stubborn, his muscles are hard as if he'd been working out for years! But he loves to be stroked, patted and gently scratched all over his body.
Olivia is something in between the two boys. She's a fat, lovely girl.

Their weights 14 days old:
Olivia 336 gr, choc boy 324 gr and the black boy 328 gr.

Olivia has the most lovely fat belly!

The choc boy is growing tougher by the minute.

The black boy is so sweet and trusting.

He's the smallest, but he walks and talks.

The first week

It's been a week with pain. To begin with everything looked so good. All the kittens gained weight and were just wonderful. On their 4th day the Siamese boy born last, the biggest of them all, lost weight and started to breathe with a "clicking" sound. Very soon his breathing got heavy, and he showed all the signs of having swallowed amniotic fluid.
He was given penicillin, but got worse and worse. At two o'clock in the night he was unconscious. Three and a half hours later, he came to and started to suckle his mother!
I gave him the name Victor, because I thought and hoped that he would make it.
He got better, but was weak. I gave him extra milk, too. He started to gain a little weight. But Friday night (6 days old) he became very weird. He was hyperactive, didn't want to suckle, just ran over his mother. Yes, literally, he ran! I gave him some extra milk again, but a little while later I found him dead in the kitten box.
The other three are developing normally. The other Siamese turned out to be a girl, and not a boy as I had thought.

Saturday, one week old, the Siamese girl weighed 226 gr, the chocolate boy 218 gr and the black boy 206 gr.

The Siamese girl has grown fat and lovely!

The chocsilvermack boy is a cosy, talkative chap.

The choc also has a very funny face.

The black silverticked boy is very sweet tempered.

Little Victor the morning after he became sick.

Victor next morning, when I thought he'd make it.

Victor with his siblings a day before he died.

We all seek comfort in the remaining three.

A day old

As the two previous times, SingSang gave birth without any problems, and this time she chose to do it in our bed. Since this was the first time I mated SingSang with another Oriental, I had of course hoped for her to deliver only Oriental kittens – as she did last time, when mated to a Siamese!
As long as the kittens seem lively and content, we don't complain. They all seem very nice.

First born Siamese kitten, 104 gr at birth.

Second born choc silver mackerel boy, 110 gr.

Third born black silver ticked boy, 106 gr.

Last born Siamese boy, 118 grams at birth.

Choc silver mackerel boy, couple of hours old.

Happy Siamese boy, couple of hours old.

Mum with kittens couple of hours after birth.

Sleeping brothers, second day in their lives.
