(N) OffBeat Rufus with his new owner Caroline J. Hamilton in Hull, UK. Rufus is from now on called Alfie. He was BIS at his last show (NORAK 6th of April) before he left Norway for England.

Love at first sight? Rufus and Lemara. A lovely couple, methinks.

Alfie (Rufus) together with Caroline's daughter Lemara, whom he immediately took a shine to. He just loved her!

(N) OffBeat Claudia JW, with her new owner Sue Yates, Sensay Siamese. Sue also lives in Hull, UK, and breeds Bi-colour and Seychellois. Claudia was also BIS at NORAKs show 6th of April. This was the 6th time Claudia was shown in Norway, and the 6th time she was Best in Show.

Lise did a fantastic job presenting Claudia at the Lirak show in January. Here she is on her way back from the nomination process. (Photo: Britt Johansen, (N) Bri-Joci's)

(N) OffBeat Claudia JW, SIA n 21, is now a Junior Winner. She has also been the best of all seal tabby points twice.

(N) OffBeat Rufus, OSH n 24, almost beat his sister Claudia on their last show. The judges were split and Claudia won by the luck of the draw.

Rufus and Claudia are seven months old at the picture.

Claudia became Best in Show for the fourth time (at her fourth show) at Norak's show 9th of December.

Rufus was nominated at the same show (Norak) where Claudia was BIS. They competed against each other in the panel, and Claudia beat her brother big time! Poor Rufus...

Rufus is still the soppiest little boy you could imagine! You can do whatever you like with him, he just purrs.

What can I say? I adore this little baby boy, who is now rather big.

Claudia (sticking her head out from the grotto) and Rufus at the Norak show, where Claudia got her 4th BIS and Rufus got nominated. His pattern is still crap, but not as crappy as it looks on the pic. Flash light is really ruining nuances and information.

Etta with her new "Dad", Sigurd, the afternoon that he fetched her.

Butti in her new home. She snuggles up to the big boy Linus and demands his attention, which she gets. He's a huge, very gentle boy, and of course Butti takes advantage of that. She's a Siamese, ain't she?

I love this picture of (N) OffBeat Rufus and (N) OffBeat Harriet.

The seventh (N) OffBeat litter was born 1 June, 2007. Olivia gave birth with a calm grace that amazed me.

The only Oriental in the litter.

Four months old

Butti (back) and Etta are sold to the absolutely perfect homes for them!

As usual we have been so lucky with our new homes for our kittens. Butti settled in immediately with Ola and Lisbeth and their four moggies. I knew she had the right temperament for this family, and I was proved right. Butti took command, and especially one of their moggies, a huge (!) boy called Linus, took her to his heart almost immediately.
You can follow Butti's life in her new family here:
www.enjoydiary.net/linus
Etta is sold to Sigurd who runs a gallery down the street from us. She follows him everywhere, and he brings her along everywhere he goes. So now she has been to parties, purring her way from lap to lap, and at the pub listening to the afternoon concert where she of course got a lot of attention from everybody. Which she enjoyed tremendously!
She will be found in the gallery with Sigurd every day.

Rufus and Claudia will not move until sometime next year. In the meantime I will show them a bit at our FIFe shows here. Claudia attended her first show the weekend 29-30th of September, and was Best in Show both days. She also took the BIV on Sunday. I was very proud of her.
She felt rather good about herself too:

Rufus felt quite disgusted with her when she came back from the show with two Best in Shows and a Best in Variety in her luggage.

Rufus 4 months old. He's so incredibly loveable.

Rufus again. Wondering where Claudia went.

Weird pic of Claudia, but I think it's funny.

Claudia 4 months old. So full of herself . . .

Fourteen weeks old

Butti, Rufus and Claudia in the garden.

Only Etta is still not sold. She is a very special kitten, the smallest, and the most delicate of them. However, she has a strong will and a very curious mind. Nothing goes past her, she wants to be in on everything. She is indeed like a "nosy neighbour", but with a much more positive attitude!
She has something of Rufus's softness about her.
Butti is a Siamese answer to a friendly Rottweiler. Big, boisterous and no fear!
Rufus is happy whenever you kiss him, play with him or tell him you love him. Claudia is convinced the world was invented to please her. Unfortunately Claudia is more or less impossible to take pictures of. A flash light makes her close her eyes, without a flash, the pics become blurry because she doesn't sit still.

Early morning in bed. Claudia and Rufus.

Claudia in Tom's arms one early morning.

His looks lie; he is such a baby in real life.

But he cries like a baby! He wants attention.

Lovely Etta, always on the look out for news.

Etta and Claudia. Sisters, but so different.

Another one of Claudia. She's hard to photograph.

It seems nothing rocks Claudia. She rules . . .

Twelve weeks old

Butti left, Claudia in the middle and Rufus right.

I guess everything was just too good to be true. These kittens haven't had any incidents of anything, they've just been healthy, active and fun kittens. But a week ago we discovered that Rufus has a loose sternum. You don't feel it all the time, but . . .
This means that Lise cannot have him anyway, since she wanted him for a show neuter. We'll try to find another Oriental kitten for her as soon as possible.
The kittens had their first vaccines last week.

Butti is still the strongest, toughest of them.

And Etta is still the curious one, a "nosy neighbour".

Rufus gets sweeter and sweeter. A real softie.

Claudia enjoys life, where ever she is.

Sweet Rufus. He is very easy to handle.

It's a pity she's so hard to photograph, Claudia.

Butti is the one sitting up, Claudia washes herself.

A friend is holding her on her 12th week birthday.

Eleven weeks old

Olivia and her daughter Claudia, I think they look lovely together.

The kittens are now fairly big, but Olivia keeps breastfeeding them, exactly like her own mother, SingSang, always did. I am also so pleased with their temperament, I find them extremely charming.
Claudia has taken very much to Harriet, and follows her around everywhere – and Harriet gets so irritated by this baby always on her heals. But in the end she always gives up, and Claudia stays close to her. Often sleeping behind Harriet's back, while Harriet pretends not to see her . . .
Tuesday next week they will get their first vaccination.

Etta has become rather cute by now.

Butti is still very much like her mother same age.

Rufus now weighs about 1.5 kg.

He is such a sweet boy, you just want to kiss him.

Lise, Rufus's future owner, holding Claudia.

Lise tried to help me photograph Claudia.

Lise kissing Rufus. They are lovely together.

Impossible to take pics of Claudia with flash light.

Ten weeks old

Olivia and her daughter Claudia, who is 10 weeks old at the picture.

I took Etta to the clinic Friday 10th of August, at her 10th weeks birthday, to have her ribcage X-rayed. The pictures showed that the lower ribs have been fractured, and healed in a slightly askew position. The fractures were probably caused by the rough passage she had into this world. That will explain why she was so slack the first 24 hours of her life, while the others suckled their mother, she just lay there and I feared I was going to lose her.
According to the vets, Etta will not suffer from this. Something my own observation can confirm. She's been as active as the others since her second day, and although she is still smaller than the others, she has gained weight at normal pace all along.

Etta at 10 weeks, she's a tough little cookie.

Butti is, however, the toughest of them all. She is strong, she is strong willed and she looks so much like her mother. I am still in doubt whether she has silver or not, but will register as a silver since I think she has a suspiciously "steely" colour on the back of her ears.
Claudia is still a very beautiful little girl. Rather independent of the others, she often goes her own ways, doing her own "Claudia-things", while the others hang out together.

Rufus and Butti sleeping. Rufus is the darling boy, loved by everyone.

Typical Butti-position. She's got an ego, that one.

Etta is special. She's got no prejudices, all is fun.

Claudia doesn't like the flash light . . .

Rufus and Butti sleeping togheter, as usual.

Claudia is watching her prey, ready to attack.

Rufus in hiding. He loves to play in the garden.

Rufus again. I can't get enough pics of him . . .

Butti, she's clever, brave and so strong.

Harriet waits for Claudia to be finished drinking.

Claudia and Etta eating raw meat; they love it.

Olivia with her tabby daughter Claudia.

Rufus and Butti enjoying a quiet evening.

Nine weeks old

I am so much in doubt whether Claudia has silver or not. According to Siamese breeders (that don't breed silver, of course), her colouring looks normal for an ordinary seal tabby point.

Olivia's kittens have grown, both physically and mentally during the last couple of weeks. Olivia has grown more and more close to her kittens. Usually they follow me around where ever I go, but if one is asleep somewhere and doesn't come along with the others, Olivia goes to fetch him/her. Since her kittens are way too heavy for her to carry now, she drags the poor kitten along. This is a bit worrying, especially when she drags it down the stairs! I am worried they will get a brain damage?
But they all seem to do fine.
Rufus's pattern has started to develop now. One side is broken up in spots, the other side is still more mackerel. Hope the stripes will break up also on this side by time. It looks like he is going to get very green eyes.
Butti's eyes are still watery blue. Perhaps they have darkened a little? Etta and Claudia's eye colour is absolutely acceptable.
At the moment no one shows any signs of silver. The silver came late on Olivia, so I guess I will have to wait a bit more to be sure whether any of them has got silver.

Rufus is now sold. The girls are still available.

Rufus, 8 weeks old. He's got a good chin.

Claudia, 8 weeks, not so sweet anymore . . .

Claudia, 9 weeks, unsharp, but she never sits still.

Rufus, 9 weeks, still very sweet tempered.

At 9 weeks, Etta is even more like she's been.

Everybody loves Etta, including Rufus.

Etta left, Butti right. They are always together.

A fairly decent pic of Butti. She's not a beauty . . .

Butti ready for attack. A tough little girl.

Even more ugly than her Mum, Butti is. We love her!

Typical sleeping position for Rufus.

Darling Claudia. She always stays close to me.

Seven weeks old

Too much to do, so I have skipped a week in the kittens' development here. They are anyway just more of the same.
A rather peculiar characteristic of Olivia's kittens, is that they are both very active and very calm at the same time.
They are always up for a cuddle, purrs like mad as soon as you look at them, and you can actually pick them up in the middle of a playsection, and they will relax completely in your hands and start to purr and enjoy cuddling.
At the moment I am not sure whether any of the girls have silver or not? I thought Butti might have, but lately she has begun to turn so dark? Her eyecolour is too light, though, but that is another issue. She is the one that looks most like her mother, and has done so since birth.
Etta has got a deformity on her ribcage, left side. Her spine is correct, as is the other side of her ribcage. This might explain why she was so tiny when born (only 78 gr), and had a very rough birth, which made me afraid of losing her during her first 24 hours. Her ribcage will be X-rayed in connection with her first vaccination shots at 11-12 weeks.
Etta is a very sweet girl. Active, investigative and she simply loves company!

Claudia is perhaps the coolest of them all.

Nothing shakes her cool. She just loves it all.

Butti is also a relaxed one. But braver than the rest.

Butti plays like a squirrel, perhaps inspired by Abbie.

Rufus is a darling. Like most boys?

I like Rufus's facial lines. He reminds me of Peter.

Etta is still the curious one. And fast!

Sweet little Etta. She really loves a cuddle.

July has been rainy, but as soon as it's sunny. . .

. . . we enjoy our garden together with our cats.

Rufus on the floor; is this discrimination?

Claudia is practising her "bar style". Whisky girl?

Five weeks old

During the last week Claudia has shown a completely new side of herself; she's a caring cat. She loves to wash her mother and her siblings. She tries to tell Rufus to behave, not with much success, but she tries like a tolerant little mother.
Butti just keeps going on in her own heavy pace. She focuses, and she goes for her goal. She's an incredibly charming little fat girl, gentle, funny and I think she is one of the smart ones.
Etta is like she has been since she came through after her tough birth. Curious, quick, hates to be left out if she suspects something funny is going on. When the others jumped the little "fence" I had put up to prevent them from leaving their room, she was still too small and didn't manage. That was a traumatic experience for Etta, so I had to help her out. After a couple of days she got the hang of it, too, so now the "fence" is there mainly because I don't know what to do. They are not 100% in control of their bladders yet . . .
Rufus is the sweetest boy, he shouts for company, he purrs like a little engine, he kisses, he clings to you; he is such a little doll! If a boy can be described that way?

Lovely Rufus. His spots are crap at the moment.

Five weeks old he looks rather promising?

Rufus's strength is his adorable personality.

I do so hope that his spots will come back strong.

Etta is coming on strong, she's got will power!

Butti is what Butti is: My kind of girl!

And Claudia is what she is: A tender, caring girl.

It's fascinating to see how different Claudia is.

Four weeks old

I don't know if it is because Olivia is such a young mother, only a bit over one year old, that her babies are so forward. Young parents often seem to take it more easy than older parents, at least when it comes to humans? Anyway, Olivia's kids are completely fearless. If they were human children, I would have questioned their parents ability to bring up children, because Olivia lets hers run wild.
Etta is no longer the only one that thinks the world was invented for her private needs. The others are now quite as demanding, and whenever they hear me come by, they start screaming for attention. Not in an ordinary way, these kittens give med orders!
Butti is still the girl with a "weight problem", she looks like a Polar bear. She's an incredibly adept climber.
Claudia has developed a "I'm the pretty girl syndrom". She's a little diva, and what a strong voice she has!
Rufus is of course the boy. Always wants to be on your lap, in your hands or being told he is such a sweet boy. He is, however, rather subdued by his sisters who constantly try to wrestle him down. He doesn't seem to mind that much, though.

Typically Claudia: "Do you really have to do this?"

Butti doesn't notice a camera if she's occupied.

Rufus is as lovely as a boy can be.

However, Rufus can say his mind, too.

Butti and Rufus one fine morning.

Butti and Rufus again. They are quite a couple.

Etta has a winning personality. So cute!

Claudia doesn't like the blitz. She likes attention.

Three weeks old

They suddenly seem rather big, especially Butti who now weighs 400 gr. She is a very relaxed nature; likes to walk around looking at things and then returns to her mother's tits for a little something to eat.
Claudia is the stubborn one. Strong will. Perhaps the most beautiful one of them, at least at this stage. She likes her little walks, too, and don't hurry back for a meal as often as Butti does. Etta is the most curious of them. She has to be where the action is, so afraid to miss out on something.
Rufus is more like Butti, rather calm, strolls about, talks with a low little voice that is so cute, and when he wants his food he is very determined. Even Butti cannot keep him away then.

Rufus is such a sweet boy. Loves his cuddle.

Rufus loves company and all nice things.

Claudia looks more delicate than the others.

One more pic of Rufus. He has very warm colours.

Butti with Mum; a lovely, fat little girl.

She still looks more like a little puppy, our butti?

Etta on top of Rufus. She has to be in the centre.

A funny little face, our Etta has.

Two weeks old

Rufus's spots have become almost invisible. Hopefully they'll return?

Olivia's babies are now two weeks old, and they have got names that I think suit them well. Rufus is Rufus, of course, and Butti is Butti. The middle sized girl, a little screamer who already shows a strong will, has got the name Claudia, and the smallest one is now called Etta.
Butti and Etta are probably both seal points, while Claudia may be seal tabby? Whether any of them has got silver is too early to tell. They are lovely, though. Butti is a soft, gentle and fat little kitten, Etta is rather active and Claudia is the stubborn one. Rufus is cuddly as most boys are? He loves attention!

Rufus is such a nice little boy. Gentle.

But he can look mean, too! He's a boy, ain't he?

Rufus shows clearly that he likes to be cuddled.

I like the shape of his eyes, very almond.

Etta, the smallest; she only weighs 220 grams.

Claudia, shouting to be put down. Immediately!

Butti is still the biggest. She weighs 298 grams.

Butti again. She's such a sweet little baby.

One week old

Rufus and Butti are so big compared to the other two.

One week has passed, and Olivia is such a relaxed and confident mother. It's really wonderful to see.
When her kittens are sleeping, she participates in our family life. Her kittens have gained much weight and they seem to be very content.
The Oriental boy has now a name: Rufus.
The biggest Siamese girl has also got a name now. Since she is round like a button, her name is Butti. I think it suits her.
The other two Siamese, also girls, I haven't yet found names for.

Firstborn, the smallest. She grows normally.

Rufus, the only boy. Very warm in his colour.

The middle sized girl, I wonder which colour?

Butti, round as a button, a little polar bear . . .

Second and third day

Olivia was unusually quiet Friday evening, resting a lot, not saying much. Then, without further due, she started to give birth. The first one caused her a little bit of a problem, though. It came tail first, then a hind leg, then the body – but the head was stuck inside. Took forever to get it out, at least between 5 to 10 minutes. I had to help her a bit with that one.
The others just "floated" out of her. And she did everything herself, washed them clean, gnawed off their umbilical cords, ate the placentas and started to breastfeed them immediately.
There were four of them, three Siamese and only one Oriental. The firstborn was tiny, only 78 grams. This is also the one that hasn't gained weight like the others.
The other three had normal birth weights, one Siamese 88 gr, the other 114 and the Oriental boy weighed 112 gr.
Today, three days old, the firstborn weighs only 82 gr, the second Siamese weighs 140 gr, the last Siamese 110 (birth 88 gr), and the Oriental boy weighs 140 gr also.
I think all the Siamese are girls, but I am not totally sure yet.
The pattern of the Oriental boy is still hard to see, however, there is cause for hope his spots will be acceptable. So far, I think it looks like his basic pattern is classic tabby (blotched).

The tiny one again, two days after birth.

The Oriental boy, I think he looks rather good.

Middle one, opened an eye today.

The big girl, she's also starting to open her eyes.

Firstborn, the little one. I think she's a girl.

Second born, Oriental boy, black spotted.

Third born, middle size. I think she's a girl.

Last born, the big one. Think this is a girl, too.
