(N) OffBeat's eighth litter

Harriet and her daughter Bella on the thirteenth day of Bella's birth.

The eighth (N) OffBeat litter was born 15 October, 2008. Parents are (N) OffBeat Harriet, SIA f, and (N) Sunsim Beta Castor, SIA n. Both parents only have Siamese in their pedigrees.

There were three kittens in this litter, but due to a complicated birth only one survived, a babygirl. The two boys didn't make it, unfortunately.

Five and six weeks old

Bella loves her food, in whatever form it comes. But of course she loves suckling her mother the best.

Bella started behaving in a much more conscious way when she was about five weeks old. Determined, sort of.
Her colour is, as I thought at first but began to doubt, seal tortie. She has got a lot of red, though, which might be the reason her colouring seemed a bit odd for a period.

At six weeks of age Bella is a very fast runner, a very good jumper and a very spoilt little girl. I have always been blessed with lovely kittens, but I wonder if Bella isn't the loveliest ever?

When she sleeps she is quite adorable!

At this age Bella looks like a little elf?

Four weeks old

Bella can now climb relatively high obstacles (that I put in the doorway in a feeble attempt to keep her in that one room when I am out).

Four weeks old Bella weighs 484 gr, but still only feeding on her mother's milk. She has access to dry food for babykittens, but she hasn't shown any interest in it at all.

Bella is now practising "jumping at prey" – she has a long way to go before she has learned to do it with the powerful elegance the older cat excels in. It is very funny to look at her, though!

Regarding her colour; I am now very much in doubt. I wonder if she isn't a seal tortie, after all?

At four weeks, she is so much more on the alert!

At this age she looks like a cute kitten.

Bella is an eager observer of the other cats.

I wonder what she will look like next week?

Three weeks old

Another quiet evening in the lounge. The other cats are now used to having Bella around.

Some time last week I saw that Bella is not a seal tortie after all. She is probably a blue tortie.

She has grown tremendously the last week. She now walks on high legs, has balance enough to scratch her ear without falling over, but is still very much a baby.

During night she sleeps cheek to cheek with me. If I have a lie down during the day, she goes up to lie close to my face, or in my armpit.

Three weeks old she weighs 392 gr. Not chubby or fat at all, just big. Rather long body and the legs seem high in proportion.

Bella walks like a big girl now. I'm so proud of her!

Bella is good at playing on her own.

Bella sucks her toes like a little human baby.

She really seems to enjoy herself, little Bella.

Harriet takes good care of her daughter.

Bella looks so much like her mum at that age.

The loveliest kitten ever, my Bella is!

Bella in the sofa. She has not fallen down. Yet.

Two weeks old

Harriet brings Bella with her everywhere I go. I'm getting used to it.

When she was one week old, the name Bella came to me. I think it suits Harriet's daughter perfectly, so she is now called (N) OffBeat Bella.
I still think she is a seal tortie, but she will not get the same kind of striking blaze that her mother Harriet has.

Bella seems to be a curious little soul. She also likes company, which is a blessing since Harriet brings her with her everywhere I go. If I am in the livingroom, watching the telly, or in the kitchen, or where ever – Harriet and Bella are there too.

Bella now weighs 316 gr, two weeks old.
She can walk a bit, using her tail as a kind of steering device.

Bella 2 weeks old. She is such a sweetie!

Hard to tell where her red spots will turn up?

The first five days

Harriet decided to keep her daughter in my bed instead of the kittenbox.

Harriet had a rough time giving birth since the first kitten got stuck and she needed help from a veterinarian to finally pull him out. It was extremely painful, but when he was out she relaxed and rested for an hour. Then the contractions started again and her little babygirl was born.

A while later she was in labour again, but by then she was so exhausted that everything slowed down. I didn't have the heart to drag her down to the clinic again, so she had a good night's rest with her daughter before I took her to the clinic in the morning to have the remaining kitten out. It was a big boy who looked fabulous... But he was dead, of course.

Harriet's babygirl weighed 100 grams at birth. Five days later she weighed 132 grams.

She is a lovely little kitten. Active, but still seems very content and relaxed.

The babygirl three days old. A happy little girl.
